Founded in 2018, Honeyguide Energy Engineering takes its name and spirit from one of nature's most remarkable partnerships — the Greater Honeyguide bird, found across sub-Saharan Africa.
Just as the honeyguide uses distinctive calls and flight patterns to lead humans and honey badgers to a hidden beehive — and both parties share the reward — we guide organisations toward their hidden energy performance opportunities, and grow together in the process.
Energy engineering is a true collaboration: trainer and trainee, auditor and auditee, advisor and advisee. Data, insight, and learning flow in both directions.
The Greater Honeyguide (Indicator indicator) is one of the few wild birds known to deliberately cooperate with humans. It calls and flutters to attract attention, then leads its followers — sometimes over long distances — directly to a beehive concealed in a tree or rock crevice.
Once the human breaks open the hive and collects the honey, the bird feeds on the exposed beeswax and larvae. The bounty is shared; neither could have accessed it as efficiently alone.
